Chocolate Layer Cake

Prepare a chocolate cake mix for 9 X 13 size. Grease and flour 2 - 8” spring form pans. Divide batter equally between pans. Bake at 350 F for 15 - 18 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool.

Filling:

5 TBSP flour

1 c milk

In a pot, whisk together flour and milk until it bubbles and turns thick, cool. In a separate bowl, cream together:

1/2 c shortening

1/2 c margarine

1 c sugar

1/4 tsp salt

Add shortening mixture to cooled milk and flour mixture. Beat well for 8 minutes on high. Add 2 tsp vanilla.

Carefully cut cooled cakes in half horizontally. Spread 1/3 of filling on bottom layer. Repeat 2 more times.

Frosting:

6 TBSP milk

6 TBSP margarine

1 1/2 c sugar

Boil for 3 minutes. Add 1 cup milk chocolate chip cookies. Spread quickly over dessert.
